Mayuri Amin
Mayuri Amin (Mayu) trained as a physiotherapist at Kings’ College London, graduating in 2010. She initially worked in the NHS at Guys and St Thomas’ hospitals in a number of specialties including musculoskeletal pain and injuries, orthopaedics, respiratory, rehabilitation and Women’s Health which remains a keen interest of hers. Since moving back to Yorkshire in 2013 she has specialized in the musculoskeletal field of physiotherapy, working in both private and NHS settings.
Her skills include assessment and treatment of a wide range of conditions from sports injuries to acute, chronic and recurrent pains of all parts of the body; using manual therapies, rehabilitation including pilates and functional movement patterns, soft tissue techniques and acupuncture to restore movement and function to enable client’s individual goals to be achieved.
A word from Mayu: I love a challenge and being outdoors. Since moving back to Yorkshire I have run my first marathon, learned to surf and trekked to Everest Base Camp and the Gokyo Lakes in the Himalayas. The enthusiasm and assistance of some clients has also enabled my initiation to the world of climbing both indoors and outdoors. When I am able I also try to add pilates, yoga and swimming to my week. Who knows what my next challenge will be – I am open to suggestions!
My life before physiotherapy involved mainly sitting at a desk and travelling around the country with many different hats on including project management of gas industry projects, IT implementation, learning and development, internal and clinical audit. Retraining as a physiotherapist was the best decision I ever made and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
